Ferry Sightseeing in Gdansk

If you’re looking for a different angle on Gdansk, hopping on one of the local ferries is a nice call. These boats aren’t just for getting from A to B,they’re a chill way to watch the shoreline roll by, and the whole city unfolds around you in new ways.

My favorite route is the ferry to Sobieszewo Island, where you can glimpse wild beaches and vast stretches of sand you don’t find downtown. On the way, you’ll float past the gigantic Gdansk Shipyards, a powerful mix of history and industry that still hums with activity. And when you head back, you’ll circle near Stogi and Westerplatte, spots loaded with stories from the past.

The ferries run pretty regularly, especially in summer, so you won’t have to wait long. Tip: Bring a jacket, even on sunny days,the wind kicks up on the water. If you time it right, you can catch a sunset too, lighting up the Motława River and the old town’s architecture in the most peaceful way. No crowds, just the water, the sky, and the city unfolding beside you.
