This place is a hidden gem of a restaurant that, once discovered, will be near impossible to get into because of its popularity. The chef does not just cater (an incredible) dining experience, but entertains with sights, smells, and engages your frontal lobe with his genius. Catching the place on a slow night, we were able to chat with the chef who shared his incredibly enthusiastic and creative ideas behind the current menu and its future. It was an unforgettable experience. Definitely try a pre fix (set menu) and engage the chef in conversation. Incredible place.

Sztuczka is an amazing restaurant. The chef Sebastian is very creative. I did like every part off this dinner. We also did had time to talk with the chef he told us how personal some of the dishes are. Sebastian one off the waiters did an amazing job. He was kind and did take time explain the dishes. 2 of the guests on my table did had a wine pairing sommelier Maciej did had so much knowledge about the wines and did make fantastic and original combinations. I wan’t to give some extra attention to the desserts they were so delicious and orginal. One was inspired by the ingredients milk and honey another one did had ingredients like mushrooms and hazelnuts.

Our visit to Sztuczka in Gdańsk started on an unexpectedly subdued note. The restaurant was very quiet on arrival, which we found a little unnerving rather than relaxing—it lacked the atmosphere you might expect from a Michelin-recommended venue. We were warmly shown to our table, but as someone a bit old-fashioned in my expectations of fine dining, I was disappointed by the presentation. The absence of tablecloths and linen napkins stood out; paper napkins simply don’t convey the level of refinement I associate with this kind of restaurant. It’s a small detail, but one that does affect the overall impression. Another small frustration was the menu itself. The descriptions were extremely minimal—often just a single word—so we had very little idea of what each course would involve. While I understand the intention may be to create an element of surprise, I personally feel a bit more detail would enhance the experience rather than detract from it. That said, there is clearly an emphasis here on a more modern, minimalist style of dining, which may appeal to others more than it did to me. However, once the meal began, any reservations quickly faded. We opted for the 12-course tasting menu, and the food was exceptional throughout. Each course was beautifully presented, thoughtfully composed, and full of flavour. There was a clear sense of creativity and precision in the kitchen, with dishes that felt both refined and memorable. Service, however, was a real highlight. We received warm and exceptional care from our server, Maciej, who made us feel welcome throughout. We were also genuinely touched that Kasber and Artur took the time to visit our table and personally explain their dishes—an attentive and thoughtful gesture that added a personal dimension to the experience. I also chose the 8-glass wine pairing. While the wines themselves were enjoyable and well-matched to the dishes, the portions were very small. I appreciate the concept of a tasting flight, but in this case it felt a little too restrained to fully enjoy each pairing. That said, we were aware that the restaurant manager was present and circulating, yet he made very little effort to engage with our table. In a restaurant of this calibre, I would expect each table to be visited and asked about their experience. This did not happen, and it felt like a missed opportunity to elevate the overall level of hospitality. More broadly, I’ve always found that truly exceptional fine dining experiences include small, unexpected touches—something “extra” that goes beyond expectations, whether that’s a complimentary dessert wine or a small dram of whisky. Unfortunately, this element was missing here. My friend was new to fine dining, and while the food was phenomenal, those additional gestures that make an experience feel truly special were absent. It’s also worth noting that the tasting menu and wine pairing are not inexpensive—this is very much the kind of place you choose for a special occasion. At that price point, the overall experience should feel truly memorable from start to finish. If Sztuczka is aiming for that coveted Michelin star, attention to these finer details will be key. There is a clear desire to create a more informal, relaxed atmosphere, which is admirable—but at times this can come across as a lack of detail rather than understated elegance. In the end, while the atmosphere and styling didn’t entirely align with my personal expectations, the quality of the food was undeniable. Sztuczka ultimately shines where it matters most—on the plate—but a few adjustments to the overall dining experience would elevate it even further.

Our best meal in Gdansk by a mile. The food really was beautiful, also thank you to Matty for the great service. Stand outs were definitely the lobster bisque and basque cheesecake to start. The balancing of the flavours was perfect. We ordered from the a la carte, but the tasting menu I’m sure would be amazing. Give this place a try, you won’t be disappointed.
